The Opportunity  

The College of Technological Innovation seeks an incumbent for the position of Laboratory Technician to operate and support heterogeneous computer laboratories and provide on-site hardware and software technical support related to PCs, scanners, printers, laptops, and network.  

The Responsibilities

• Installs, configures, maintains, upgrades and troubleshoots heterogeneous hardware and operating system platforms of Windows, Macintosh, and Unix-based systems.   
• Installs, supports and maintains labs desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment. Maintains, and troubleshoots Lab network hardware and software.  
• Supports and installs new computer equipment including imaging of new computers Provide IT technical support to college faculty and students using the labs.  
• Installs, supports and maintains all software applications on Windows, Unix and Mac operating systems.  
• Maintains and supports college printers and scanners.  
• Installs and maintains hardware on laboratories PCs.  
• Maintains operation of computer laboratories including working order and cleanliness.  
• Assists in building new PC images and e-images computers with specialized software.  
• Maintains hard disks and cleans personal files off disks so unwanted software is not downloaded.  
• Assist in diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software problems.   
• Keeps and maintains detailed and accurate records for maintenance, inventory records and order supplies needed for the operation of equipment.  
• Maintains the security and physical appearance of the equipment and facilities.  
• Prepared to work outside normal working hours to support graduate classes and other college activities.    

The Requirements

• Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT or other related degrees from an accredited Institution with a minimum of 2 years of technical support experience in end user environment, Hardware/Software, Networking and Security concepts and troubleshooting OS/Applications.  
• Sound Knowledge of Networking Concepts and Multi- Operating System platforms, specifically Windows and Unix   Arabic/English bilingual- preferred.  
• Good understanding of telecomm and Video conferencing facilities.  
• Desirable skills: A+, Network+/CCNA, Security+, RedHat Certified or equivalent, MCSE or MCSA.
