Research Associate/Research Fellow, Level ARAS/BRF

  • Based in UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Unit at the City West campus (Australian Centre for Precision Health located in SAHMRI)
  • Full-time fixed term contract until April 2023
  • Salary range: $88,851 - $118,665 per annum (plus superannuation)

About the Role
 
Reporting to the Associate Professor in Statistical Genetics, this position will be responsible for contributing to the research activities relating to multiple funded projects in relation to advanced whole genome analyses for complex traits which can be extended to other omics analyses. The research will include additive and non-additive modelling of phenotypes for estimation and prediction and will be implemented into a statistical software package.

Core Responsibilities
 

  • Conduct genetic and genomic analysis of phenotypic and genomic data
  • Develop computer code to implement analysis methods and examine properties of methods
  • Draft reports, abstracts and scientific papers
  • Contribute to the supervision of Honours/Postgrad research students
  • Offer new ideas on research directions and drafting research proposals

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Postgrad qualifications in a relevant field e.g. quantitative genetics, statistics, bioinformatics, computer programming and epidemiology
  • Knowledge and understanding of statistical genetics
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis of quantitative or statistical genetic models for complex traits
  • A developing record of research achievement as demonstrated by publications, conference papers and other activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse multi-disciplinary research team
