Ulster University enjoys a national and international reputation for excellence in teaching, research, innovation and regional engagement. The University is in the process of developing a new strategic plan and wishes to appoint an outstanding leader to this key position. This position, which forms part of a refreshed leadership team, offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic individual who will embrace the University's ambitions and help shape its future direction and success.
 
The postholder will support the Vice-Chancellor in the delivery of the University's academic mission and strategic plan. This position is both challenging and rewarding, with a broad range of responsibilities. In addition to the specific responsibilities of the portfolio, overarching responsibilities fall into three broad areas: strategic leadership; organisational development and effectiveness; and building strategic partnerships and relationships.
 
For this key role the University is seeking to appoint an individual with proven academic leadership credentials and with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse range of staff. The successful candidate will have the vision, strategic perspective and commitment to deliver institutional and civic leadership reflecting the University's values of `Inclusion, Integrity, Collaboration and Enhancing Potential'. They will have an inclusive and determined approach to leadership, encouraging ideas, initiative and innovation in others and must be able to build strong stakeholder relationships and play a key strategic role in enabling the University to fulfil its potential.

The post can be based at any of the University's campuses as the role requires regular working at each of the University's campuses. The role is available at an early date mutually convenient to the University and the appointee.
