SENIOR FINANCIAL OFFICER, Schwarzman College of Computing (SCC), to perform comprehensive financial management for the SCC Dean’s Office. Will serve as one of the primary information and operations resources for financial and sponsored research activities in the college.  Will develop an understanding the college's strategic and operational objectives and perform high-level financial work, including financial modeling, analysis, and budget development and direct all financial transactions and processes in SCC; prepare budgets, monitor projects' financial performance, and provide regular updates to verify the proper distribution of resources and use of fund; monitor accounts to ensure compliance with MIT and SCC policies through the life cycle of projects; independently initiate, organize, plan, execute, and manage special projects according to deadlines and within budget; deal with a broad range of financial tasks, including effort reviews, budget preparation, support for new initiatives, tracking proposals and managing under-recovery, cost-sharing, paying invoices, handling account set-ups/closeouts, financial review and control (FRC), and special projects; and provide effective communication across SCC departments, labs, and centers.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; at least seven years’ financial management experience in an academic/research environment, preferably at MIT; excellent analytical, quantitative, organizational, consultative, customer service, and oral and written communication skills; project management experience; service orientation and a commitment to following through on assignment details; receptivity to learning new business methods and computational skills; knowledge of federal guidelines; high-level proficiency with Excel and SAP or similar accounting packages and PowerPoint, discretion, tact, and good judgment with highly sensitive/confidential information; and willingness to pitch in with the team to accomplish tasks.  Cognos experience preferred.
