TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, McGovern Institute for Brain Research-Fan Wang Lab, to contribute to multidisciplinary research on the neural basis of sensation and sensorimotor behaviors using mouse models. Will be responsible for animal-related functions; management-related functions (e.g., purchasing and keeping inventory of equipment, resupplying consumables, enforcing environmental health and safety); and administrative functions (e.g., scheduling meetings, organizing events and visits, managing lab finances, handling travel reimbursements and calendars, handling mail, etc.). The position will be highly collaborative in nature and require building relationships and working effectively with colleagues and staff in the McGovern Institute, Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Division of Comparative Medicine, and the Environment, Health and Safety Office.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in biology or related field; two years’ experience in mouse husbandry; ability--after an initial learning/adaptation period--to perform the enlisted functions with little or no help; comfort working with mice; strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills; basic computer skills and familiarity with Dropbox, Microsoft Word, and Excel; and self-motivation. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively and juggle the dynamic events that occur in an energetic, fast-paced interdisciplinary research environment.
