Job description
The Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Research Administrator to work on an innovative NIHR PGfAR-funded programme: On-Line Parent Training for the Initial Management of ADHD referrals (OPTIMA). OPTIMA will evaluate a novel digital parenting intervention for families on the CAMH waiting lists.
The role will involve working closely with the Trial Manager in supporting the OPTIMA team. This post is well-suited to someone who would enjoy working within higher education and has a strong interest in research-related administration.
This is a part-time post - 50% FTE. In the first instance, it will be offered for 9 months, in line with NIHR PGfAR funding policies. However, following a successful programme review, there is the possibility that NIHR funding will be continued for a further 46 months.
Key responsibilities
- Arranging and facilitating project meetings - booking facilities, circulating agendas and papers, taking minutes.
- Assisting the Trial Manager in monitoring and managing the programme budget, including managing expenditure and keeping financial records.
- Liaising with internal departments in KCL, collaborating institutions and external partners.
- Assisting the researchers in various aspects related to data collection.
- Assisting in preparing public dissemination materials (e.g., press releases, social media posts, etc.)
- Assisting with production of reports to the grant funder (NIHR)
The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Motivated, professional and enthusiastic
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to use initiative, prioritise and organise workload
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Excellent IT skills, including the use of MS Office and virtual communication platforms
- Experience of financial administration: ordering, processing invoices and expenditure monitoring
- Flexible and willing to help colleagues during busy periods
- Willing to learn new skills and undertake training, as required.
Desirable criteria
- Previous administrative experience in higher education or similar environment
- Preparing and managing budgets
- Knowledge of the UK research funding environment
- Experience of HR processes
