We are seeking a scientist at the Research Assistant grade to conduct research within the Mucosal Immunology Research laboratory of Dr. Eoin McNamee. The group has a strong focus on the inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD; namely Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis) and we target critical cytokine, chemokine and microRNA networks to understand how a healthy immune responses are maintained at the intestinal mucosal barrier and what processes over-ride this during disease or infection. The successful candidate will join a programme of research investigating the molecular mechanisms of how microRNA circuits shape intestinal immunity. Translational immunology studies including clinical and industrial collaborations, will investigate how candidate microRNAs in mononuclear phagocytes either promote tissue healing or drive chronic inflammation in models of inflammatory bowel disease or bacterial infection.
The research will combine state-of-the-art approaches using advanced immunology and biochemical techniques, in vitro and in vivo models of infection and inflammation and investigation of patient specimens. This post is funded by the financial support of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI).
Research Assistant : € 23,061 - € 27,767 per annum (Points 1 - 7)
