Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS)-High Energy Physics Group, to work on the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) experiment.  Will work in a group that has taken a leading role in the discovery of the Higgs boson at 125 GeV and presently focuses on searching for dark matter and learning more about Higgs physics.

Will be expected to play a major role in this analysis effort.  The MIT group is involved in several detector projects such as the data acquisition, Hadron Calorimeter upgrade, the new High Granularity Calorimeter, and computing projects. At MIT, the group operates a Tier-2 computer center, providing resources for data analysis both locally and as part of the CMS computing grid. This position is targeted for a person who will take major responsibility for the Calorimeter project.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics, excellent data analysis and computer skills, and the ability to carry out an independent research program.
