The Stanford University Department of Medicine, Clinical Excellence Research Center (CERC) strives to lower healthcare spending in the United States by designing, pilot testing, and evaluating innovative models of care delivery. Our design work is enabled by research in areas including human factors, artificial intelligence, and positive deviance. CERC has partnered with the Stanford School of Engineering for its PAC program. The PAC research mission is to deliver Artificial Intelligence based healthcare service delivery solutions that improve cost efficiency and healthcare quality. In addition, CERC works with sponsors and national collaborators on its bright spots and human experience research. To disseminate insights from this cutting edge work, CERC and various sponsors are collaborating to translate these findings into practical solutions and evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions on quality and cost.

The successful candidate will spend 50% of their time on our Partnership in Artificial Intelligence Assisted Care (PAC) program and 50% supporting other programs within CERC. Stanford University is seeking a Research Project Manager to perform work to support its research initiatives.

Duties include:

  • Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day research activities by identifying and executing tasks to meet project deliverables, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the project.
  • Develop research protocols for novel applications, facilitating successful IRB submissions. Create workflows and routinely follow-up with research team to document and monitor milestones, timelines, and progress ensuring the successful completion of the project within defined scope and budget. 
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the research project. Develop the workflow around ensuring de-identified data sets are following both internal and external regulatory policies.
  • Prepare and write reports, gathering information from research team regarding major activities, challenges, and planned activities and forecasting future project needs. Co-author sections research manuscripts/abstracts for submission to conferences and journals.
  • Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for research projects. Helpful to understand NIH and other federal reporting guidelines for proposal submissions, finance, and publications.
  • Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting complex events and/or conferences.
  • Supervise staff or students engaged in data collection, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work. Manage communication with all team members.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. MPH).
  •  Deep understanding of the research process and project cycle from initiation to closure.
  •  Experience in working with research data and the ability to clean, format, and manage datasets.
  •  Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, HR, communications, risk, and procurement components.
  •  Experience writing progress reports, manuscripts and creating figures/charts for publication.
  •  Ability to productively contribute to cross-functional teams.
  •  Depth of knowledge in administrative support needed to deliver projects.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
