Research Associate 2
The Zigler Center in Child Development & Social Policy within the Yale Child Study Center brings together a diverse group of researchers and practitioners in an effort to improve the well-being of children and families by bringing objective child development research into the policy and public arenas. Faculty from the Zigler Center developed a classroom observation tool called the Climate of Healthy Interactions for Learning and Development (CHILD; Gilliam & Reyes, 2016, 2017). The CHILD promotes the quality of social-emotional interactions in early child care and education settings and is being used in several cities and states, including Canada. We provide trainings for early childhood mental health consultants, child care providers/teachers, and other individuals interested in the utility of the CHILD Tool.
The CHILD Research Manager and Project Coordinator will coordinate research activities across multiple research projects that include an RCT of the CHILD for Home-Based Programs in New York City; maintain, analyze and evaluate data to generate evidence and translates research findings into practice and policy recommendations utilizing research methodology, statistics, and data analysis.
Develops and oversees implementation of operations and procedures for the collection and verification of datasets.
Develops and manages research database and oversees data entry and quality checks.
Designs and implements quality control measures to ensure accurate collection and processing of data.
Responsible for documentation and transmission of study data.
Develops forms, questionnaires, and the application of research techniques; writes procedures manuals for data collection and coding.
Serves as primary coordinator between Yale and external partners.
Serves as primary point of contact for research-related queries.
Performs queries, combines and pre-processes datasets and contributes to early stages of data analysis.
Generates reports on study progress, directs weekly research staff meetings. Supports lab members in implementing sustainable lab practices.
Supports research staff in grant preparation and management; prepares and maintains the IRB protocols.
Trains, supervises and supports research assistants in implementation of the research procedures from data collection, entry, to quality control checks. Supports research assistants by providing training and appraising performance.
Support research staff in preparation of research reports, conference, abstracts, presentations, and manuscript preparation.
Coordinates and carries out the overall research process and provides critical operational support to the program.2. Performs independent research, participates in research planning and investigates, analyzes, and reaches preliminary scientific conclusions. 3. Collaborates with the Principle Investigator in the design, testing, implementation and evaluation of survey instruments as necessary. 4. Recommends the design and implementation of procedures and protocols under the direction of the Principal Investigator(s).5. Prepares research protocols and materials; schedules project meetings and monitors the project timeline adjusting as necessary.6. Manages all project/research data collection, files, and sharing. 7. Develops educational materials, forms, questionnaires and writes procedure manuals for program.8. Performs literature reviews and contributes to manuscript writing and publishes articles for peer-reviewed journals; presents research progress and findings.9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated Program Management skills with the ability to successfully manage all aspects of programs.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated experience with database management.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Proven ability to prioritize and simultaneously handle multiple projects and competing priorities to effectively complete tasks in a timely manner.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Well-developed organizational and oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work with a dynamic research team in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Proficiency in Qualtrics. Proficiency in use of statistical analysis packages such as SPSS, SAS, R. Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish (oral and written).
