Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within the UCD School of Computer Science
This successful candidate for this role will become part of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at the School of Computer Science in University College Dublin. Insight is one of the largest data analytics centres in Europe. It undertakes high-impact research, seeks to derive value from Big Data and provides innovative technology solutions for industry and society by enabling better decision-making.
The successful candidate for this role will lead work in the Human-Centric Aspects for Decision-assistive Technologies strand of the Decision Making research challenge of the Insight II research programme. The work will focus on developing novel approaches to human-in-the-loop machine learning, focusing on algorithmic questions (including novel approaches to active learning and other interactive machine learning challenges) as well as human-computer interaction questions (how to allow people to guide the machine learning process, how to explain what models have learned etc). the work will be aligned with use cases prominent in the Insight II research plan including medical imaging and health and human performance.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
Salary range: €38,631 - €42,201 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
