Chair (W2) of Business Management,

esp. Management Accounting
(with tenure track to W3)

 

with a six-year contract to be filled as soon as possible. By being appointed to the chair, evaluation criteria will be mutually agreed upon, which will be evaluated by a TU Dresden evaluation commission at the latest in the fifth year of the appointment. The focus of the evaluation will be the scientific success in the form of subject-relevant and high-quality publications, the acquisition of third-party research funds as well as related project management experience, commitment and success in teaching performance and promotion of young researchers, the networking in the scientific community and special commitment to academic self-administration. Following a positive evaluation, a permanent Chair (W3) of Business Management, esp. Management Accounting will be granted.

During the fixed-term professorship, you will prove that you are able to comprehensively fulfil the requirements of the area of appointment. You will represent the field of Management Accounting in research and teaching and actively participate in academic self-administration. We expect you to teach Business Administration courses in the faculty's bachelor, master and diploma programs. We also expect you to cooperate actively within the faculty and other disciplines at the university as well as to secure third-party funding.

The ideal candidate holds an excellent PhD (or equivalent) in Business Administration with a background in Management Control, Management Accounting, Finance & Accounting or closely related topics. We expect excellent academic achievements demonstrated through the publication of papers in top international journals and presentations at scientific conferences. We are looking for a scientist with a proven international track record with interdisciplinary and global networks. In accordance with the focus of the faculty, the candidate is expected to engage in applied research, based on both theoretical and empirical findings. Profound knowledge in the application of empirical-quantitative research methods (surveys, experiments, archival data etc.) is required. Experience in acquiring third-party funding and in the respective manage­ment of research projects are required. We expect good didactical and teaching skills as well as the ability and willingness to offer courses in English. Proficiency in German is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect the successful candidate to acquire sufficient language skills in German to conduct teaching and adminis­trative tasks within two years of appointment. Applicants must fulfill the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).

TU Dresden supports tenure track professors with a program specifically tailored to their needs. Mentoring, various coaching sessions and special continuing education programs and support offers provide active professional guidance throughout the duration of the temporary position at the chair.
