Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pathology is searching for a full-time faculty member at any rank. The successful applicant will possess the vision and expertise necessary to integrate cutting-edge diagnostic/clinical service with an innovative program in research and education. The Molecular Pathologist will be involved in sign-out of a broad scope of molecular diagnostics tests, and have time and resources to participate in new test development and translational research. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

We especially welcome applicants with one or more of the following: (a) board certified or eligible (by start date) in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology) and Molecular Genetic Pathology (American Board of Pathology and American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics), (b) eligible for the Anatomic and or Clinical Pathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology board examinations by start date, (c) clinical experience with large-scale NGS oncology diagnostic panels, (d) MD/PhD and a record of scholarship and investigation in clinical oncology genomics.

The Molecular Diagnostics Section is CLIA-certified and includes state-of-the-art diagnostics utilizing next-generation sequencing (NGS) and other genomics platforms to support personalized clinical diagnostics in multiple areas of pathology, with a dedicated focus on oncology.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, and 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
