The University of Chicago's Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology, is searching for a full-time faculty member at any rank. The appointee will provide longitudinal radiation oncology treatment to cancer patients, often in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team. Direct patient care responsibilities include managing patients with complex subspecialty needs and limited off-hours and weekend coverage. Basic and/or clinical radiation oncology research is an integral part of this position. Current areas of clinical investigation in the Department include: concomitant radio chemotherapy, biological response modifiers, decision analysis in oncology and innovation of new treatment delivery techniques, as well as investigation of organ specific disease sites. Teaching and basic science research interests include: molecular aspects of radioresistance, cell cycle regulation, signal transduction, and correlation of basic laboratory parameters with clinical outcome. Investigations in gene therapy and the molecular biology of metastases are being initiated. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications. The appointee will be provided an excellent start-up package and protected research time.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible, and 4) experience in basic and clinical Radiation Oncology research.
