Job Description

This position is contingent upon favorable funding.

The highly qualified and experienced ultrasound technician will be a Cardiac Sonographer at the Penn Center for Quantitative Echocardiography and be responsible for performing highly specialized offline quantitation of echocardiographic images according to the American Society of Echocardiography and department guidelines, ensuring accurate, precise, and reproducible results.  Sonographer will be responsible for performing highly specialized echocardiographic studies utilizing 2D, 3D, and Doppler techniques.  Sonographer will compile and maintain files according to department procedures.  Under supervision of the Medical Director, sonographer will conduct trainings for physicians and sonographers participating in clinical trials to ensure high quality and consistent image acquisition.  Sonographer will engage in continuing education related to state-of-the-art ultrasound techniques for the assessment of cardiovascular physiology.

Responsibilities and duties include offline quantitation of ultrasound images,  providing training and feedback for sonographers and physicians participating in Core Lab clinical,  scanning transthoracic 2D, 3D, and Doppler echocardiograms, as well as performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or Two-Year College equivalent required (CVT or equivalent) with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
