Job Description Summary 

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) seeks an energetic and dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner interested in collaborating with multi-disciplinary peers. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position will offer an opportunity to work jointly and collaboratively with Counseling and Student Health Services.   Primary responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations and medication intervention and management for Penn students seeking treatment at CAPS.  The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner reports to the Senior Clinical Director of CAPS.

The recently expanded program for Health & Wellness is part of an integrated approach to wellness that includes Student Health Services, Campus Health and Drug and Alcohol Programs, and Counseling and Psychological Services. The Department of Student Wellness is composed of a multidisciplinary team of professionals including psychologists, social workers, counselors, consulting psychiatrist, nurses, consulting physicians, and a team of graduate assistants.

Job Description 

Specific responsibilities include medical diagnostic evaluations and maintenance; collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and trainees and provision of on-call coverage on a rotating basis during days, nights and weekends. On-call coverage may include coordinating with campus partnership offices or collaborating with campus resources to assist a student in crisis.  May, also, provide individual and/or group psychotherapy.  Job may entail formal or informal supervision of graduate nursing Intern.  Completes all appropriate clinical notes and agency data collection. Follows all University and CAPS policies and procedures. Maintains strict adherence to principles of confidentiality. CAPS will prioritize applicants from minority backgrounds and is seeking candidates with a solid understanding of the impact of marginalization, inequality, and identity on students. 

Qualifications:

  • MSN required and 3 - 5 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed Advanced Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; PA
  • Controlled Substance License, Federal DEA.
  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Experience in psychiatric treatment of adolescent/young adult population preferred
  • Experience with a college student population strongly preferred. 
  • Experience with electronic health records desirable.
