Job Summary

The Mechanic Aide will work closely and take direction from Journeyman Mechanics and/or Lead persons aiding in a variety of tasks including maintaining and repairing several different HVAC and plumbing machinery and equipment. Will also assist in work involving rehabilitation and alterations to rooms, laboratories and offices.

Job Duties

• Assist in repairs including routine maintenance on HVAC machinery and equipment
• Assist in the installation of fixtures and equipment
• Assist in HVAC repairs and maintenance
• Assist in a variety of construction duties on rehabilitation projects including clean up
• This position may require driving a campus vehicle
• Will load and unload equipment, tools, and materials at job sites
• May perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• Must have six (6) months or more of experience in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
• Must possess some general knowledge of basic hand tools
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 pounds of tools, supplies and equipment on a daily basis
• Must be able to stoop, bend, pull, and kneel throughout the workday
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to maintain it throughout the course of employment
• High school diploma
• Requires EPA Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years or more of HVAC experience is a plus
• 1 year or more of work experience in a university setting is a plus
