Position Focus:
Provide specialized nursing support to the Reproductive Endocrinology; Infertility Division; Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. Work responsibilities include clinical care team, procedure/recovery rooms and third party activities. Flexibility required to cover clinical locations in Orange, Westport, and Guilford CT and occasionally Guilford, CT and weekend/holidays on a rotational basis.
Essential Duties
- Performs physical assessments of patients, including triage duties and advises on treatment or course of action by having knowledge of nursing care standards and principles.
- Develops, implements, and manages nursing care plans in collaboration with physicians.
- Interviews patients and records medical history to establish data for treatment plan.
- Plans and coordinates the admission and discharge of all patients.
- Instructs patients and families in proper treatment and advises patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Performs patient care procedures by following appropriate policy and procedure.
- Records patients’ medical histories and symptoms, operates medical machinery, administers treatment and medications, and coordinates patient follow-up and rehabilitation; assures all procedures for maintaining patient confidentiality are maintained per HIPAA guidelines.
- Identifies education needed to assure competent delivery of patient care for oneself and others in the department.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Graduation from accredited school of nursing.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Strong focus on superior customer service to our patients and faculty.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to learn/teach medical protocols to patients.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Excellent communication, organizational and attention to detail.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Infertility experience preferred. Conscious sedation experience preferred or ability to learn conscious sedation procedures.
Required Licenses or Certifications
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or Connecticut license eligible. Current CPR certification.
