The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery seeks a Pediatric Neurosurgeon for a full-time faculty appointment. The selected appointee will have responsibilities in neurosurgical patient care, medical education, and scholarship. They will join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates.
Clinical responsibilities will include performing neurological surgeries, outpatient clinics, and inpatient consults. The individual will provide leadership that will ensure clinical excellence and growth for all pediatric neurosurgical programs. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees, students and staff and other scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) will be dependent upon qualifications.
The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center (the only one on the South Side of Chicago), a Level 4 NAEC Pediatric Epilepsy Center, and a referral center for numerous neurologic disorders. Every year, we perform hundreds of complex neurosurgical procedures on infants and children.
Prior to the start of employment, an individual must possess the following qualifications: (1) be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery or equivalent; (2) have completed an accredited residency in neurological surgery or equivalent; (3) have completed an accredited fellowship in pediatric neurological surgery or equivalent; (4) be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery or equivalent; (5) be able to obtain permanent and unrestricted Illinois medical licensure.
