RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to focus on fast-moving research projects in biomedical device development. Will develop a novel barnacle-inspired biopaste as a potential therapeutic solution for highly effective coagulation-independent hemostasis under anticoagulated or coagulopathic condition; work both independently and as part of a small team to conduct research on hemostatic agents; generate novel bioadhesives for hemostatic applications; design, analyze, prototype, test, and optimize various materials and devices for hemostatic applications; draft and/or help draft research proposals; engage with sponsors and potential sponsors and with grant preparation; help with training undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral scholars; and disseminate findings in a timely manner in journals and reports and at conferences.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or chemical engineering; strong organizational and planning skills; and the ability to work in coordination and collaboration with multiple research groups and to contribute effectively to troubleshooting teams. PREFERRED: experience supervising and mentoring students (pre- and postdoctoral) and technical associates in the successful completion of project reports and scientific presentations. Job #19172

This is a term position through June 30, 2022, with a possibility of renewal based on the availability of funding.
