COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALISTCareer Advising and Professional Development (CAPD)/Office of Graduate Education (OGE), to provide support to two offices within the Office of the Vice Chancellor—Career Advising and Professional Development (60%) and the Office of Graduate Education (40%). Duties for CAPD include working to enhance the organization’s visibility and student use of career and professional development services by developing and maintaining communications plans and calendars; creating and editing web, email, print and social media content; and training and advising staff on communications best practices. Duties for OGE will include working with the communications officer to support effective communication with all constituents through working on the office website, email campaigns, and internal structures. As both offices are working on website redesigns, the 2020-21 academic year will see an intense focus on moving these projects forward. The position allows for wide latitude in organizing workflow and initiating collaborations.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) with an emphasis in marketing, communications, writing, higher education administration, or related field; at least three years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, including experience with digital communications and website and content management systems (Drupal and WordPress preferred); written and oral communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team and engage in multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; self-motivation; and the ability to listen carefully and communicate tactfully, work effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of constituents at a research institution. Job #19157-7

Salary range:  $56,600 – 65,000.
