TECHNICIAN-A ELECTRONIC, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to join an internationally recognized facility at the forefront of plasma physics and fusion energy research. Will obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, or certifications as required; layout electrical jobs, estimating and ordering materials; install electrical equipment and hook up motors, pumps, and power supplies; install and maintain utility power systems 480-277, 208-120 three phase; troubleshoot and repair faulty electrical systems; help maintain maintenance shop, managing tools, parts, and equipment; learn from senior technicians, engineers, and scientists in order to successfully complete all assigned tasks; and perform a variety of related duties in support of magnet programs and research.
The PSFC is comprised of a team of almost 200 top-tier students, scientists, engineers, and technicians. It recently announced a new, accelerated pathway to fusion energy that is based on the development and demonstration of the world’s highest performing superconducting fusion magnets and the design of the first net-energy fusion device--the SPARC tokamak.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or GED, graduation from a two-year technical school or its equivalent (technical military training accepted), and a Massachusetts’ journeyman electrician license. Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of tools and equipment; work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; lift weights of up to 50 lbs. unassisted; remain stationary for extended periods (eight hours minimum); position oneself to maneuver in tight spaces; and follow all safety guidelines and procedures. The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. Must be able to work all shift hours, overtime, and weekends as needed.
