ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION, Economics, to support market design and labor economics research as part of a growing team consisting of over eighteen academic affiliates who represent leading economic thinkers, ten full-time staff members, and a number of graduate researchers. The team works closely with leading academic, government, and nonprofit institutions across the country to address major societal issues in education, health care, and the workforce. Will serve as a senior manager who leads the overall operational activities of the organization. Responsibilities include ensuring that all financial and administrative processes operate efficiently and that internal documentation and communication systems are maintained; acting as a key driver of research operations and establishing administrative processes to help ensure the organization meets sponsor and MIT policies; and functioning as a human resources representative within the organization, acting as a liaison between MIT human resources and leadership. May have direct reports on the finance and administration team.
REQURED: a bachelor’s degree in a related field (MBA preferred); at least five years of administrative experience; a demonstrated track record of establishing financial and operational systems in a sponsored research environment; extensive experience with Excel, SAP, and other financial platforms; and meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in relation to complex financial tasks. This position is based in Cambridge, MA, with remote work required due to the COVID-19 crisis.
This is a one-year, term-limited appointment with the possibility of an extension.
