SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF)-Financial Accounting and Reporting, to provide support with reporting, compliance, analysis, and control of accounting and financial functions related to MIT’s accounts receivable, including state and federal filings and general ledger accounts. Will perform invoicing; act as a technical knowledge resource; prepare financial reports; gather data in support of auditor requests; document trends and suggest process improvements; review, correct, and approve journal voucher requests to apply cash receipts to departments/labs/centers; perform the monthly close process; support the review of quarterly close schedules; update, maintain, and analyze team operational dashboard; review sponsored research financial data reports created by team members; take a leadership role on special projects; help create and lead training sessions; and perform other duties/projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in an accounting, finance, or related business area; at least three years’ experience in financial operations, including accounting and/or research administration; advanced-level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently, swiftly identify issues and resolve with minimal guidance, manage multiple tasks while paying attention to detail and accuracy, and ensure timely delivery of all responsibilities/assignments; discretion, tact, and good judgment with highly sensitive/confidential information; collaborative approach to work and willingness to pitch in to accomplish tasks; and flexibility regarding learning new tasks, taking on new assignments, and supporting team initiatives.
PREFERRED: sponsored research administration experience, including financial audit of sponsored research awards and reviewing and recording journal entries; experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems, Brio Query, and Cognos; and MIT experience. Job #19016-7
