(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting May 1, 2021, for 24 months until April 30, 2023, with the option of extension. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed-Term-Research-Contracts-Acts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification.

Position: The DFG-funded Emmy-Noether Junior Research group “Towards fluid dynamics of foam and froth” deals with the investigation of the flow of foam and froth. It will develop and characterize novel measurement techniques. In a later stage, these techniques will be applied to selected foam flow configurations. The project is carried out in close collaboration with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf.

In this sub-project X-ray tomography of particle-laden aqueous foam will be characterized and validated. Tomography will be carried out with the unique ROFEX ultrafast X-ray facility at HZDR. This allows to measure the distribution of liquid content as well as the tracking of individual particles in the foam. By combining these two information, particular focus is on the removal of hydrophilic particles from the foam by applying wash water.

Requirements: a very good university degree in Physics or Engineering with specialization and/or experience in measurement technique, fluid mechanics, radiography, tomography, foam, of multi-phase flow, with hands-on experience in design, execution, and documentation of experimental investigations; self-dependent, reliable worker with high degree of creativity and problem-solving skills.
