Lecturer in Financial Services - Full time, Permanent
We are looking to appoint, to our academic Research pathway, an enthusiastic new team member who can help grow our research output, expand our excellent links with industry partners and who has experience of developing and delivering innovative education or training programmes to external partners.
You will join the Finance Subject Group in the School. The group offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The National Student Survey for 2019 rated the Finance subject area at 94% for overall student satisfaction and in 2020 we are rated as a top 5 Modern University for Accounting & Finance (Times & Sunday Times). We are keen to expand our Financial Services provision in response to the significant changes in the financial sector particularly in the areas of personal financial planning, personal investment planning, investment/asset management and contemporary issues in financial services, as well as the growing regulatory requirements.

The role
Your contribution will involve developing our research output in finance, delivering innovative teaching and building relationships and collaborating with external industry partners. This role will involve taking a leading role in the development of our research output in the field of finance/financial services in order to complement our reputation as a leading ‘applied’ business school. You will develop new working relationships with business and other external organisations to grow our commercial and research links with industry.
You will be responsible for designing and delivering teaching and student-centred learning. We are particularly interested in hearing from researcher-academics who can teach in some of the growing areas outlined above (e.g. asset management, financial technology, personal finance, risk management or contemporary issues in financial services).
You will be required to conduct individual and collaborative research projects.
Who we are looking for
You must have:
- A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline
- Evidence of development of interesting research in finance and subsequent publication
- Demonstrable evidence of a teaching/training specialisation
- Be willing to travel to teach overseas, primarily in Hong Kong and China.
Desirable attributes would be:
- Teaching qualification such as membership of the HEA
- Evidence of secural of external research funding
- Professional qualification, such as CFA, CIOBS, etc.

Benefits we offer
Salary: GBP 40,322 - GBP 49,553 per annum (Grade 6) + Pension (Employer contribution of 23%)
