Position overview

The Centre for Advanced Microscopy (CAM) is looking for a highly motivated Data and Analytics Engineer who will have extensive experience in the delivery of data processing and management related to microscopy research services. The successful applicant will be required to perform data analysis using multiple visualisation platforms and processing pipelines arising from the available range of CAM’s electron and light microscopy facilities. Primary focus will be on cryo EM workflows (e.g. single particle analysis, segmentation, machine-learning tools for image pattern recognition and 3D volume imaging). She/he will also be expected to provide advice and training to CAM clients and liaise with relevant high-performance computing facilities to develop a data management plan for the facility.

About the centre

CAM is the ANU’s microscopy, characterisation and analysis core facility and forms part of the national grid of Microscopy Australia facilities within the Advanced Imaging Precinct of the ANU (comprising CAM and the Computed Tomography-lab).

The Centre’s goal is to facilitate and provide research excellence through a focus on world-class facility capabilities matched with staff expertise. It does this through excellence in consultation, training, teaching, data collection and their analysis to meet the characterisation requirements of local, national and international researchers and industry.

CAM comprises 8 research professional and administrative staff supporting a diverse range of instrument platforms including basic and advanced light microscopy, electron microscopy and microanalysis.

Microscopy Australia (formerly known as the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility) is a national grid of university-based microscopy and microanalysis laboratories, providing open access to world-class instrumentation and expert knowledge to all Australian researchers.
