Role Description

As the UK’s only exclusively postgraduate university, Cranfield’s world-class expertise, large-scale facilities and unrivalled industry partnerships is creating leaders in technology and management globally.  Our distinctive expertise is in our deep understanding of technology and management and how these work together to benefit the world.

Our people are our most valuable resource and everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of our university, developing our learners, and transforming the businesses we work with. Learn more about Cranfield and our unique impact here. Our shared, stated values help to define who we are and underpin everything we do: Ambition; Impact; Respect; and Community. Find out more here.

Cranfield School of Management (SOM) is recognised as one of the most prestigious UK business schools, with 50 years’ experience of educating business leaders. SOM is a triple accredited School (EQUIS, AMBA, AACSB). It is known for its excellence in leadership development, its deep-rooted relationships with organisations and its focus on transforming learning and research into improved management practice.

Simon Rowlands, a retired Co-Founder of the global private equity firm Cinven, has endowed this Chair to evolve the understanding and practice of how transformational strategies are developed and implemented. He has seen first-hand the identification and execution of successful strategy across different sectors over 30 years. Increasingly, new challenges have emerged testing leaders to find ways to transform their business models.

You will be educated to Doctoral level in Strategic Management (or related subject) and hold a PgCert in Academic Practice (or similar), with determination to help guide and develop the next generation of students, scholars and thought leaders in this space.

Your interest will be to sit at the very heart of Cranfield as an institution: continually breaking ground at the Management-Technology interface.  You will have a world-leading background in the examination of business strategy, technology adoption, organisational dynamic capabilities and innovation pathways.  You will be driven to galvanise this knowledge and apply it to the complexities of transformational strategy including in a deep technological context.  You will want to build critical mass, inspire thinking and lead change. If this is you, we are interested.

At Cranfield we value Diversity and Inclusion and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential.  Our equal opportunities and diversity monitoring has shown that women and minority ethnic groups are currently underrepresented within the university and so we actively encourage applications from eligible candidates from these groups.

We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role. Find out more here.

Informal questions regarding the post should be directed to the University’s appointed advisors, Perrett Laver at (E); cara.hirst@perrettlaver.com or (T); +44 (0)207 340 6253, quoting reference number 4888.
