At the latest in the fifth year of the appointment, a tenure evaluation will be conducted by an inter-faculty and inter-departmental evaluation commission. Following a positive evaluation, a permanent Chair (W2) of the Internet of Things for Biomedical Engineering will be granted.

The evaluation procedure is based on evaluation criteria defined at the start of employment. Essential performance criteria are the establishment of an independent research profile for the Internet of Things (IoT) for Biomedical Engineering, the significant participation in nationally and internationally reviewed publications as well as international conferences, success in raising third-party funds, the initiation of cooperation projects within the faculty and the DRESDEN-concept partners, the active cooperation in an international framework as well as the development of innovative teaching contents with positively evaluated teaching performance.

You will represent biomedical engineering in teaching and research and focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • Communication networks, protocols and IoT standards for biomedical engineering
  • Application software and AI-based analysis for medical sensor data
  • Telemedical equipment and system technology for domestic and clinical use
  • Data security and encryption technologies for IoT in biomedical engineering
  • Real-time capable monitoring of clinical workflows for quality assurance and risk assessment.

The chair will be involved in basic and advanced courses in the future interdisciplinary study program "Biomedical Engineering" as well as in minor subject courses for other faculties. You will assume teaching obligations in basic lectures on medical technology, for example "Digital Medical Technology", "Approval Procedures", "Telemedicine" and "Biosignal Processing". The lectures are to be held in German. Your active participation in academic self-administration is a prerequisite and we expect your willingness to engage in collegial interdisciplinary cooperation.

We expect you to be successful in your scientific work in a current field of your vocation, to have excellent research achievements with high development potential, experience in teaching, special didactic skills and success in the acquisition of external funding. We are looking for a dynamic, committed and responsible researcher personality who is able to inspire our students with high motivation and didactic skills, also in teaching, and who will help to shape the profile of our faculty in a future-oriented manner through relevant research experience.

The chair is financed by funds from the Tenure Track Program of the German Federal Government and the Federal States for the promotion of young scientists and is aimed at outstanding academics at a very early stage of their academic career. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG) and should be in an early post-doc stage.
