Applications are invited for appointment as Professor on tenure terms or Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Division of Landscape Architecture in the Department of Architecture (Ref. 502853), to commence on September 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment as Associate Professor/Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates for Associate Professor may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.

The Division of Landscape Architecture is looking for research-focused scholars who are established or emerging leaders in the fields of the following:

(a)  applied ecology or landscape ecology and related fields, such as spatial ecology, land use/land cover change science, conservation geography, and restoration ecology.  Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Landscape Architecture, Ecology or a related field and have a strong record of research publication in prominent journals and in obtaining research grants; or

(b)  landscape architecture, focused on advancing knowledge of the discipline and its evolving role within society. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a critical and sensitive approach to community, history, environment, and social justice and be capable of promoting novel connections between landscape architecture and other relevant disciplines. They should possess an international reputation within the design disciplines based on a strong record of design and planning innovation and scholarly publication in design theory, methods, technology, or media.  They must have experience in studio instruction and applied research and hold an advanced degree in landscape architecture, urban design, or architecture.

Teaching responsibilities will include instructing in design studios and seminar courses in areas that support practice and design education for landscape architects.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and/or University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
