Position Focus:

Working under the supervision of an Associate Professor in Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Program Manager will be administering a multi-method project on a new R01 and a new grant from Russel Sage Foundation. Tasks and experiences include both qualitative and quantitative data collection and management, interaction with community partners, experience working with economically and socially vulnerable research participants.

Principal Responsibilities:
 
Supervises research within the scope of established study protocol. Adheres to all human subjects regulations as defined by Yale University and the federal government that pertain to research studies.

Responsible for reviewing, planning, and implementing study protocols and assessing the impact of program changes on research quality.

Identifies and makes initial contact with potential funding sources to secure funds.

Develops forms and questionnaires and manages the application of research techniques.

Works closely with investigators to identify quality and operational strategies.

Fosters and maintains cooperative relationships with principal and co-investigators, collaborators, study personnel, local government officials and study sponsors to ensure for the safe and timely progression of studies and adherence to all study/agency/government regulations.

Develops original HIC/IRB submissions for research in collaboration with investigators.

Develops operational procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of survey and qualitative data.

Develops protocols for collection of data. Designs data gathering instruments and related procedures. Tests, refines and finalizes instruments for use in research study.

Manages, codes, and analyzes qualitative data using NVIVO and prepares memos for qualitative interviews. Also, oversees student involvement with qualitative data management.

Conducts in-depth qualitative interviews.

Manages access data-base for storing and retrieving multiple forms of data.

Coordinates and conducts regular meetings with staff and investigators to ensure that study goals and objectives are met.

Responsible for project communication and correspondence with stakeholders, community members, and participants.

Composes and contributes to both academic abstracts/publications/manuscripts as well as community level dissemination.

Oversees procurement of materials for health data collection.

Acts as liaison with members of the Community Advisory Board coordinating meetings and collaboration efforts.

Responsible for ensuring safety of study participants and maintaining positive study environment.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

  1. In support of the overall mission, plans, directs and oversees programmatic activities.
  2. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures.
  3. Manages program communications; identifies outreach potential, and promotes philanthropic and collaborative support of the program.
  4. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans.
  5. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program.
  6. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. Develops metrics to identify and measure the success of the program.
  7. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications.
  8. Develops and manages the program's operating budget.
  9. Manages the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resources including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs.
  10. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Experience with mixed methods research studies and with conducting qualitative interviews.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Proficiency in NVIVO qualitative data management software.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Proficiency and experience designing Qualtrics surveys and managing data from Qualtrics surveys.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Experience working with community advisory boards and stakeholders and familiarity with low-income housing policy.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Five years related experience. Proficiency in Spanish.
