Dynamic and vibrant, Durham University Business School is one of Durham University's four Faculties and is comprised of three research-intensive departments: Accounting, Economics and Finance, and Management and Marketing. The Department

The Department of Management and Marketing at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Professor. We welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests in the broad field of Entrepreneurship and we are particularly eager to hear from applicants with a focus on any of the following themes:

  • Start-ups;
  • The role of incubators;
  • Digital business models;
  • Corporate entrepreneurship; and
  • Family firms.

Teaching and research in Entrepreneurship

The Business School has a long and distinguished record in teaching and research in entrepreneurship and small business management. The School offers a MSc Management (Entrepreneurship) and a specialist pathway in Entrepreneurship on the MBA. There are also several entrepreneurship modules on our undergraduate programmes. The School has been running a vibrant and popular Dragons' Den student competition each year. We also work closely with professional and business support organisations in the North East.

Our entrepreneurship staff publish in the top journals in entrepreneurship and management. They have also written and edited leading teaching and research monographs. Areas of expertise within Entrepreneurship at Durham include family firms, management buy-outs, growth of small firms, and support structures for entrepreneurs and small businesses. New areas of expertise include corporate entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth and development. Social entrepreneurship is also a growing area of interest within the group, as are digital business models. There is a deep and long-standing interest within the group in entrepreneurship education.
