FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR, Chemistry, to serve as a key member of the department’s finance team. Responsibilities include working closely with the financial coordinator on coordinating the preparation, review, and submission of budgets and grant proposals and with the senior financial officer on administering financial tracking and data analysis, including endowed and gift accounts; assisting with preparing the annual budget submission, fiscal year-end closing, and creating/maintaining financial tracking systems; collaborating on developing and presenting financial training materials; identifying areas of improvement and providing solutions; assisting with salary distribution and Roles Database authorization requests; handling monthly review and resolution of account overruns and closeouts; monitoring and analyzing financial review and control compliance reports; training and supporting personnel on budget processes/financial policies; handling financial management of PI accounts, including forecasting and monthly review; creating, enhancing, and employing infrastructure and financial controls to ensure compliance with policies/procedures; collaborating on developing tools to analyze and minimize risk in the department and conducting periodic audits of financial processes; managing monthly oversight of risky financial transactions, unassigned travel, swept credit card charges, etc.; developing trend analyses; serving as Procard verifier; providing guidance to financial and administrative assistants; and handling other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least five years’ experience in accounting or related financial area; ability to work independently to solve problems with minimal supervision; ability to proactively implement and/or improve established financial processes; strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, and organizational skills; ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines; and strong Excel skills.  Seek a team player who enjoys working in a diverse, fast-paced environment. 

PREFERRED:  knowledge of SAP.
