TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE II, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to participate in research and professional education programs focusing on additive manufacturing (AM) technologies across a range of industrial contexts. Will perform techno-economic analysis of additive manufacturing’s application potential in construction and infrastructure maintenance; facilitate the daily administration and development of workforce-oriented online and hands-on coursework in additive and digital manufacturing; and contribute to the set-up and operation of two advanced 3D-printing laboratories.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related field; at least four years’ specialized experience working in or operating a 3D printing or rapid prototyping facility (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate or graduate student); at least 100 hours of hands-on experience with FDM/FFF extrusion-based systems and SLA/DLP photopolymerization systems (collectively); at least 100 hours of hands-on experience with powder bed fusion metal AM processes (SLM/DMLS/EBM); familiarity with the risks associated with the handling of metal powders and their associated safety protocols; competency with standard CAD software tools and with standard AM build preparation tools; and ability to lifting and carrying loads weighing up to 50 lbs.
