Job Description Summary

The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a multi-year contract with VinUniversity and Vinmec, entities that are subsidiaries of Vingroup, a multi-national conglomerate headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam. This contract commits Penn to provide advisory services to Vingroup to create new medical and nursing schools as part of a nonprofit, private university in Vietnam. Accordingly, staff will be required to plan, implement and administer this partnership.

The Penn-Vingroup Curriculum Coordinator provides day-to-day administrative and operational oversight of the curriculum (MD, BN and GME) activities of the Penn-Vingroup Alliance. Duties include managing the curriculum content development phase for the MD, BN, and Residency programs and logistical operations, facilitating communications between Penn and Vingroup stakeholders, drafting and reviewing deliverables with guidance from Penn faculty members, and supporting the Project Director and Director of Operations on management reports. The Curriculum Coordinator will also be responsible for planning and organizing multifaceted international and domestic site visits for the Alliance, pending travel restrictions.

We are looking for a coordinator who has strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail. The curriculum coordinator is very self-motivated, takes initiative, and is results-driven. He/she is expected to work independently, prioritize, and multi-task while maintaining accuracy and successfully meet deadlines. He/she has demonstrated strong ability to use sound judgement and proven capability to identify, analyze, and create approaches to problem solve matters of varied complexity. He/she will work autonomously and also respond to the direction of the Director of Operations and the Project Director.

Job Description

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor’s degree in health sciences-related majors preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of content in medical education and/or global health strongly preferred; excellent project management, writing, customer service, management and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and on own initiative; ability to effectively manage and prioritize tasks and initiatives for self. Willing to travel to support project and client team in Vietnam (pending travel restrictions due to the pandemic). Significant international experience required, including time living abroad and familiarity navigating cultural differences and cross-cultural communication. Able to work in a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines. Familiarity with Penn processes and data systems highly preferred. Professional proficiency in Vietnamese language is helpful but not required.
