Job Description Summary

The Research Specialist B will maintain laboratory organization and provide research support for a laboratory in the areas of immunology and cell biology. This includes tracking and maintaining lab supplies and inventory, as well as general lab organization and support, maintenance of lab equipment, and record keeping.
Job Description
Research duties include tissue culture, basic molecular biology skills, PCR, flow cytometry, preparing stock solutions, rodent handling and general animal husbandry. Particularly important will be the handling of experimental animals, including breeding and assessing their health. Additionally, this individual will provide general laboratory organization and support with autoclaving, maintenance of laboratory equipment, preparing of stock solutions, and record keeping. The employee will work with and provide research support for postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, including performing cellular, molecular and biochemical experiments under minimum supervision.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in science is required and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required skills include knowledge and technical expertise in handling of experimental research animals (mice) and familiarity with laboratory safety and standard techniques. Preferable skills include cell/tissue culture and flow cytometry. Position is contingent upon funding. A cover letter is required.
