Job Description Summary

The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.

The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the “go-to” organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

Job Description

Our Vector Core is a state-of-the-art facility which provides vector-related materials and services in support of basic and translational research worldwide. 

Due to the growth of our program, the Vector Core is looking to add a Sample Coordinator to support the Analytics teams.

In this new position, Sample Coordinator, you will oversee sample management for the Analytics team, including sample receipt, inventorying, tracking, and shipment to external Contract Manufacturing Organizations for testing. You will work closely with the GLP QC team members, Research QC team members, and the Assay Development team members within Analytics, as well as the Quality Assurance Unit and will aid in the development and implementation of new systems for sample management. In addition, you will be receive training to conduct analytical assays and contribute to the testing needs for the GLP QC group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 0-3 year of experience in a role within Life Sciences preferred
• Independent thinker with a track record of working collaboratively to achieve goals
• Highly functioning, detail-oriented, and analytical mindset required
• GLP experience preferred but not required
• Excellent oral/written communication skills required
