Job Description Summary

The Medical Records Manager is responsible for maintaining and securing all written and electronic medical records within Ryan Hospital's Medical Records Department.

Job Description

The Manager must ensure that information contained in the record is complete, accurate and only available to authorized personnel (i.e., hospital staff and patient owners). The manager holds the primary responsibility for reviewing patient medical records and updating visit-associated diagnosis codes in the hospital information system. Other duties include overseeing and supervising work activities and staff within the department, as well as managing the recruitment, training and development of staff. Also required will be the collection of data for medical research upon request. The Medical Records Manager will also assist with fiscal operations (i.e, budget awareness and monitoring, equipment and supply requests) within the department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, certification and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in hospital medical records is preferred.
