Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Urban Analytics in the Department of Urban Planning and Design (Ref. 502728), to commence in summer 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post will be on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

HKU’s Department of Urban Planning and Design is an internationally leading planning school with excellence in teaching and research in urban studies and urban planning. Its vision is to help reshape urban planning and policy in Hong Kong, China, the Belt and Road Region and elsewhere with its world-class urban science and policy analytics. The appointee will be a major contributor to Department’s recently launched Master of Science in Urban Analytics (MUA) programme. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in urban science (broadly defined), with a track record of an international experience in urban analytics research and teaching. As an urban data scientist, the appointee is expected to be capable of teaching and applying the most sophisticated urban data science to significant urban planning and management problems, and to publish technical work for methods audience in urban planning/studies as well as GIS/computer science.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with the appointee's qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
