Job Description Summary

This position will provide  administrative & research support to a preeminent professor in the Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy in the Perelman School of Medicine for his teaching and speaking responsibilities.  Job duties include research of relevant topics utilizing library and electronic methods, interviews, and on-site visits.  In addition, this position will proofread and edit speeches and course related materials under supervision. Included in these duties will be the ability to compile and analyze data, organize and synthesize existing academic research material, update and/or rewrite existing material, respond to copyright queries from writers and other publishers, obtain rights to use materials from other publications, and respond to multiple phone and email queries.  This position also plays a critical role as the primary liaison for students, faculty and external speakers as well as contribute to course content for existing and emerging on-line courses.  The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, take direction and critical feedback, and must be able to multi-task in order to meet tight deadlines.

Job Description

This position coordinates research administrative activities in support of the Principal Investigator, Project Manager and other key stakeholders. May provide support for multi-year grant proposals and renewal process. Will coordinate data collection, quality control, storage and management. Maintains database for efficient information management and reporting. Participates in research team meetings to problem solve follow-up challenges with the intent to improve the quality of data obtained. Participates in reporting and dissemination activities related to research findings. Assists with manuscript preparation and dissemination of results. May also coordinate special research projects and meeting as needed. The research duties include telephone screening participants for study eligibility, communicating with PIs and study coordinators on potential study participants for study assignment, coordinating and conducting community outreach activities, ensuring data completeness, maintaining research files, providing information to participants regarding research protocols and procedures, data collection and data entry.

Qualifications

The minimum of a High School diploma and 5 years of administrative support or assistant experience in a fast paced environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. College degree strongly preferred. Prior experience in Academic environment a plus.

The expertise is needed to comprehend and manage complex scientific information and  technical writing skills are needed to transform research data/information into accurate, understandable publications. Previous experience with submission of scientific manuscripts or grant writing / editing preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office needed. Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment; strong analytical skills, detail-oriented; demonstrated experience meeting critical deadlines.
