The School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering is a multi-disciplinary centre of research and education located in the heart of London’s vibrant design community. It is proud of its research advances and of educating thousands of undergraduates and postgraduates in STEM subjects.

City’s Department of Mathematics brings together high-quality undergraduate education and an active research body of academics and PhD students. In the last Research Excellence Framework, 80% of the outputs submitted by Mathematics were rated as either world-leading or internationally excellent.

The Department runs three undergraduate programmes: Mathematics, Mathematics and Finance and Mathematics with Finance and Economics. It is launching a new foundation year for each programme. 

Responsibilities
The School is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic to a Lectureship in Mathematics. The post holder will develop the new modules for foundation year Mathematics programmes; deliver education across a range of modules and support and mentor students. In addition, they will contribute to the administration and planning of teaching, teaching support and wider educational environment. 

Person Specification
The successful candidate will have a first degree and a postgraduate degree (or appropriate professional qualification/experience) in Mathematics or a related discipline. A PhD is desirable. They will have significant experience of delivering education and supporting students’ learning, ideally on Mathematics foundation year undergraduate programmes, or A’ Level/equivalent courses in school or college settings. Candidates should hold a recognised teaching qualification/accreditation relevant to education (or be working towards this) and have a breadth and depth of knowledge in areas of Mathematics and related topics commensurate with delivering the Mathematics curriculum.
