The Provost Portfolio is responsible for education strategy and quality learning and teaching for students.  The portfolio includes a significant focus on innovation to improve student experiences and services, increase our digital presence, create viable, market driven course offerings (aligned to clear enrolment planning goals). In 2020 a significant priority for the Portfolio is the rollout of a digital education roadmap and offerings underpinned by a robust, quality assurance framework. Related strategies and programs are being progressed through the Directorates within the Portfolio (see below) to underpin delivery for students, alumni and our stakeholders.

The Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC) provides leadership in strategy, policy and capacity building, promoting excellence in learning and teaching at ACU, including in the online environment. The Centre provides programs and services to support professional development of academic staff and the technology platforms for course delivery and student engagement in learning. The LTC partners with Faculties, The Academic Skills Unit, Pathways, ACU College, The Office of the Academic Registrar, IT Services and the Library, in the delivery of outcomes shaped by ACU's Education Strategy.

The Interactive Experience Designer will support the creation of rich, meaningful and accessible digital learning experiences - bridging the gap between the learner, the educator and the learning environment. The role will be responsible for driving creative solutions to the challenges faced by our learners in an online learning environment.

The role will work with Faculties to transform courses and units using a human-centred, goal-oriented design philosophy that is aligned with the University Mission. The role is also expected to work collaboratively with members of the Digital Education Unit on a variety of educational projects and products.

More specifically, in this role you will:

  • interpret strategic goals and requirements into meaningful, empowering and accessible digital learning experiences to scale and with pace;
  • present ideas, designs, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes to senior stakeholders and gather, interpret and action feedback;
  • work as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • develop a library of templates and assets that are portable, rich and can be easily adapted.

You will need to have:

  • tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Interactive Media Design, Multimedia, Digital Media Design) with subsequent relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience in Education and/or Training;
  • experience using authoring tools, industry-standard graphics and multimedia software packages and Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, CANVAS, Blackboard;
  • a strong command of typography, colour theory, information design hierarchy, motion, sound and composition in online learning;
  • knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks;
  • evidence of ability to show commitment with integrity to the Catholic Identity, Mission and ethos of the University.

Total remuneration valued to $105,196 - $113,853 (pro rata) pa, including salary component $88,892 - $96,207 (pro rata) pa (Higher Education Worker Level 7), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
