Post-Doctoral Fellow, Biofouling and Microbial Characterization
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a research associate or post-doc position starting April 2021 to work on a research project in the area of microbial desalination, and pretreatment for reduction of salinity and biofouling potential of seawater prior to membrane desalination. The project will evaluate the effectiveness of a hybrid Microbial desalination-electrogcoagulation / floatation process on seawater salinity and its biofouling potential. Suitable candidates should have a track record and significant contribution and co-authorship to at least 3 Scopus indexed publications on the topics of: biofouling potential evaluation using luminescence, biofilm reactors, and flowcytometry; growth, quantification, and characterization of micro-algae; and operation of an electrocoagulation/floatation pilot unit.
Applicants must have a PhD degree, preferably in environmental engineering, with specific focus on biofouling characterization and microbial desalination
The ideal candidate should be highly-motivated and submit documented evidence to support
- Proven record of biofilm characterization and microbial desalination techniques;
- demonstrated research and track record publications;
- Good technical writing skills;
- Flexibility and self-dependence in executing the assigned research roles.
