As part of its growth strategy, the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Lecturer in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (three year fixed term appointment in the first instance).

We welcome applications from candidates with research interests in the fields of clean energy/clean propulsion and/or low emissions transportation, supported by sound knowledge in one or more of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, aeroacoustics, aerodynamics and/or other closely related areas as we seek to develop these areas as part of wider University initiatives.

Successful candidates should also demonstrate how they can contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across our Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and/or Product Design Engineering programmes. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals with experience in teaching fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CFD, propulsion and/or aerodynamics at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Honours Degree or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or closely related Engineering subject.
  • Hold a PhD in a relevant research field.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years postdoctoral research experience in relevant area.
  • Research interests relevant to the fields of clean energy/clean propulsion and/or low emissions transportation, supported by sound knowledge in one or more of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, aeroacoustics, aerodynamics and/or other closely related areas
  • Research interests that are sustainable and which complement or enhance existing activities within the school.
  • Record of high quality, relevant, research publications commensurate with stage of career.
