Assistant Professor (Two positions) (PR0200/20-21)

The Department of Music at Hong Kong Baptist University (http://mus.hkbu.edu.hk) invites outstanding applicants for academic/teaching positions specialising in the field of (a) Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games and (b) Songwriting. 

The appointees should possess a strong track record of professional experience in the relevant fields of expertise. In addition, they should articulate a 21st-century vision for teaching a wide range of courses effectively, including both core and elective courses in the department’s undergraduate music education curriculum, as well as other courses assigned by the Head of Department. Preference will be given to those with expertise in two or more of the following areas:

-    Composition and Applied Orchestration for Screen  
-    Techniques of Sound Design  
-    Music Technology and Production
-    Songwriting
-    Arranging for Songwriters

The appointees are expected to be an active member in Department and Faculty-level administration, including (but not limited to) quality assurance, curriculum development, academic advising, supervision of undergraduate Honours Projects, active participation in student recruitment, juries and auditions.

Applicants should possess a relevant degree in music (doctorate desirable), collegiate-level teaching experience and extensive professional experience in the creative industries.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract commencing not later than 1 September 2021. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
