School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Project Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Officer will work on a project to conduct research on materials development using state of the art advanced manufacturing techniques.

This includes:

  • Experiment planning and execution of the experiments
  • Experiment using state-of-the-art metal 3D printers
  • Simulations of laser processing techniques
  • Assist with lab operations such as safety compliance and purchasing support
  • Examining the samples using microstructure characterization techniques and mechanical testing
  • Literature reviews on materials processing by advanced manufacturing techniques such as powder bed fusion and directed energy deposition
  • Writing progress reports, research papers and documentation of results

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering or related disciplines
  • Experience in additive manufacturing or relevant manufacturing processes for metals is an advantage
  • Laboratory experience involving material characterization techniques and mechanical testing is an advantage
  • Good interpersonal skills, teamwork awareness is desired
  • Good English communication and writing skills
  • Passionate and strong sense of responsibility for research

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
