Full Professorship (W3) of Economic Geographies of the Future
(Chair)

commencing on October 1, 2021.

LMU Munich’s Department of Geography plays the leading role in Germany in research and teaching in the field of Geography of Sustainability. In order to complement its scientific strengths in the fields of economic geography, human-environment relations, global change research, land-use dynamics, and climate research, and remote sensing, the department seeks an excellent scientific personality working on economic geographies of the future.

The W3 professorship will engage with economic geography aspects of sustainability, global change, resilience, innovation and transformation research in the Anthropocene. A special focus is on the analysis of potential economies of the future and development pathways towards an overall (ecologically) more sustainable economy. In doing so, an integrated perspective on local, regional and global economies and their drivers as well as impacts is encouraged. Further, the combined application of innovative mixed methods in the field of future-oriented economic geography is of interest.

The successful candidate is required to participate in teaching economic geography at all levels within our bachelor and master programs as well in our teacher education programs.  

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.
