SUPERINTENDENT, Nuclear Reactor Lab (NRL), to assume a senior operations role responsible for the oversight of all operations and routine maintenance activities for the MIT research reactor. Will be responsible for scheduling shifts, all routine and outage work, and sustaining required maintenance frequency in accordance with the facility’s technical specifications and NRC requirements; identify procedures that need updating and perform safety reviews of proposed changes to operating, test and calibration, and emergency procedures and equipment; and lead by example, talk to operations staff about performance issues, provide performance reviews, hire new staff, and foster a safety culture.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: five years’ related U.S. Navy, commercial, or research nuclear reactor experience; a senior reactor operator’s license; ability to lift weights of up to 40 lbs., ascend ladders, and wear and maintain training in use of a SCBA unit; English fluency; excellent interpersonal skills for successfully communicating with a diverse group of staff, students, MIT community members, and external organizations; and attention to detail.
PREFERRED: experience in management or leading a team. Job #19094
