RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING (RET) ASSOCIATEAbdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)-Global-Research, Education, and Training (RET) Group, to coordinate the DEDP master’s program admission process, seminar, and capstone internship placements.  Will support the development of relationships with partners in governments/NGOs/ foundations/multilateral aid agencies/universities worldwide; support J-PAL’s online course portfolio, including MIT’s MicroMasters program by serving as a teaching assistant for advanced courses, assisting students with data analysis assignments, collaborate on successfully running each course, and conducting data analysis for user surveys and A/B experiments that test the relative effectiveness of different pedagogies for J-PAL’s online courses; develop new tools for J-PAL research projects that increase the efficiency of research staff; research and design new teaching modules and prepare presentations/case studies/manuals to provide training on randomized evaluation methods; assist with planning, organizing, and conducting in-person courses/workshops; maintain tracking, monitoring, and evaluation systems for training programs/research publications/online courses and provide reporting. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED bachelor’s in economics, political science, education, public policy, international development, or related field; two years’ relevant work experience; training in and strong technical understanding of randomized evaluations; detail-orientation; strong writing, time-management, and strategic thinking skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision and meet deadlines; self-motivation; interest in poverty alleviation policy/research as demonstrated by coursework and/or study/work abroad; knowledge of data management, data analysis, and econometrics; good command of Stata or knowledge of R or other analytics programs and ability to quickly learn Stata; and MS Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Excel).  Must enjoy working in teams.

PREFERRED:  master’s degree; experience conducting field research in developing countries; experience with data cleaning and analysis of complex data sets; and LaTeX knowledge or exposure to MATLAB, Python, or Julia.  Job #19125
