PATIENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE MEDICAL SPECIALTIES, MIT Medical, to be responsible for patient flow and appointment scheduling. This is a highly visible position with extensive patient contact, both in-person and by telephone. Typical duties include staffing the front desk (e.g., check in, collecting co-pays, obtaining accurate insurance eligibility information, etc.) and providing administrative support (e.g., telephone calls, data entry, insurance reviews, filing, etc.); scheduling patient encounters (appointments) and procedures to coordinate within and across providers, service areas, and institutions; communicating with referral providers and practices to facilitate management of complex patient issues; providing effective customer service that supports departmental operations; and greeting and directing patients, families, and visitors.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; two years’ related experience (e.g., a customer service or administrative role), preferably in a busy medical practice setting; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; strong organizational, follow through, telephone communication, and customer service skills; and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with accuracy. Must be able to effectively and diplomatically communicate with patients, clinicians, and other professional staff; work independently and within a team-oriented environment; and work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
PREFERRED: associate’s degree or higher in communications, business, or other relevant field; knowledge of medical terminology, pre-admission and pretesting requirements, and insurance regulations and form completion; ability to be trained in CPT and ICD10 coding; knowledge of billing system helpful; self-motivation and ability to work independently upon training completion; insurance verification experience and knowledge of deductibles/co-pays.
